Play the classic Memory Match (card flip) game in your browser—no download, no sign-up. Flip cards to find matching pairs, track your moves and time, and beat your best scores for each difficulty.

What is Memory Match?

Memory Match is a simple but addictive game:

• A grid of cards is placed face down.
• Each card appears exactly twice in the deck.
• You flip two cards at a time:
  • If they match, they stay face up.
  • If they don’t match, they flip back after a short delay.
• The goal is to reveal all pairs in as few moves and as little time as possible.

This version tracks your moves, time, and local high scores by difficulty.

How to Play

1. Choose a difficulty (Easy, Medium, or Hard).
2. Click a card to flip it. Then click a second card:
   • If the two cards show the same symbol, they stay visible as a matched pair.
   • If they are different, they automatically flip back after a short delay.
3. Each time you flip a second card, your move counter increases by 1.
4. The timer starts on your first flip and stops when all pairs are matched.
5. When the game is complete, you’ll see a summary with:
   • Total time taken
   • Total moves
   • Whether you set a new best time or least moves for this difficulty.
6. Use Restart to shuffle a new board at the same difficulty, or switch difficulty to start a fresh game with a new grid size.

Grid Sizes & Difficulty

• Easy (4×4) – 16 cards (8 pairs). Great for a quick warm-up.
• Medium (6×6) – 36 cards (18 pairs). More symbols to remember.
• Hard (8×8) – 64 cards (32 pairs). Long game, serious memory workout.

Each board is created by:

• Selecting the right number of unique symbols.
• Duplicating each to make pairs.
• Shuffling the cards so their positions are completely random.

Scoring & High Scores

For each game we track:

• Time – how long you took (in minutes and seconds).
• Moves – how many times you flipped a second card in a pair.

For each difficulty (Easy / Medium / Hard) we store a local high score in your browser:

• Best time – the fastest completion time.
• Least moves – the lowest number of moves.

If you beat the existing record for the current difficulty, your new time/moves are saved automatically.

High scores are stored in your browser only (using localStorage) and are not shared or synced.

Strategy Tips

• Flip systematically – Work row by row or column by column to remember positions.
• Remember mismatches – Even failed matches give you information; try to recall where each symbol was.
• Watch patterns – Some symbols will repeat close together; use that to your advantage.
• Take your time on hard mode – With many pairs, slow and accurate play can still produce a very good score.
